Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane has announced a much-changed starting XI to face Egypt this evening.
Bafana enter the game on the back of two wins in Mosimane’s first two games in change. They first beat Guinea 2-1 at home before beating Eritrea comfortable 5-0.
The six points have also given Bafana a strong start to their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
The latest move sees Bafana overtake Czechia and return to 49th, a position they last occupied in October 2011 during Mosimane’s first spell as head coach
Mosimane took over from Hugo Broos, who had guided Bafana to a first-ever qualification for the knockout stages.
Mosimane had indicated he would select an experimental XI against the Pharaoes, with several players in his first squad since Broos yet to feature.
Egypt won the last clash between the two sides, but before that Bafana collected three successive wins, making it a positive head-to-head record in recent clashes.
Here is how they line up:
Bafana XI: Chaine, Okon, Seema, Matuludi, Basadien, Sithole, Poggenpoel, Matthews, Dithejane, Singh, Mailula
Subs: Williams, Rayners, Mbuthuma, Zwane, Campbell, Moremi, Kabini, Morena, Makhanya, Ndamane, Sibisi, Goss
Egypt XI: Shobeir; Hany, Rabia, Abdelmuguid, Karim, Lasheen, Attia, Ashour, Adel, Marmoush, Ziko.
