Bafana Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane felt the love of Al Ahly SC supporters and did not write off his return to the club of the century.

Mosimane received a warm welcome in Egypt when he returned for the first time since leaving Al Ahly but returned as the head coach of Bafana Bafana this time around. The former Mamelodi Sundowns head coach won six trophies at Al Ahly in the space of 20 months.

What was magnificent was winning the CAF Champions League back-to-back, 2019/2020 and 2020/2021. The Bafana Bafana mentor also led the Egyptian giants to two bronze medals at the FIFA Club World Cup.

Speaking with the media in Egypt after a narrow 1- 0 win against Egypt at Cairo International Stadium, Mosimane compared the players Al Ahly has now and stated that he would’ve won a lot with the current players and also stated that he might return to Al Ahly even if it is at junior side.

“The Egyptian national team has a big team and special players like Imam Ashour and Zizo, and I did not have such players, even Al-Ahly did not have these players at that time, imagine if I had Zizo and Imam Ashour; maybe I could do more things than I achieved in my training career,” Mosimane told Yallakora.

“I am very happy to meet Mr. Abdul Hafeez at Al-Ahly Club and Al-Ahly fans gave me all the love, and I miss them so much; maybe I will return to Al-Ahly again one day,” he said.
