New Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner has opened up on how his confidence and focus aided him register a clean sheet in his first official match for the club.
Leaner, 28, was snapped up by the Glamour Boys on a free transfer from Sekhukhune United prior to the resumption of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season but had to bide his time on the bench with Brandon Petersen the preferred starter.

Petersen was then sidelined by injury with Leaner making his debut in goal for Amakhosi after joining them during the preseason.
Leaner did not disappoint between the sticks pulling off excellent saves as the tie against Lamontville Golden Arrows played out to a 0-0 stalemate.
Speaking to the club’s website, Leaner was showered with widespread praise and took pride in finally achieving his lifelong ambition.
“It was really exciting for me to play my first game because it has always been a dream for me to play for Kaizer Chiefs, one of the biggest teams in South Africa,” he said.
“I was able to make those saves because I went into the game with confidence and was very focused, which made me ready for action.
“I see a bright future for myself where I can become a better goalkeeper in the future and achieve great things in my career.”
The Glamour Boys are back in action when they take on Stellenbosch FC at FNB Stadium on Tuesday, 13 October.
The clash gets underway at 19:30.
