Rulani Mokwena’s Pyramids FC got their League Cup campaign off to a perfect start after beating Canal SC 3-2, making it eight wins in eight games with the Egyptian giants.

Mokwena’s men were already up inside the first minute of the match, with Ahmed Nadhir Benbouali finding the back of the net.

Abdel Rahman Magdi made it 2-0 in the 40th minute, with Pyramids carrying a comfortable lead into the break.

However, things got a bit tougher in the second half, with Mohamed El Shebini cutting the deficit in the 57th minute.

Ali Hamouda, though, restored Pyramids’ two-goal lead after 76 minutes, but Canal didn’t go out without a fight and scored their second via Hazem Abou Sena after 83 minutes.

It was a little too late, though, as Mokwena’s men secured the hard-fought win.

Pyramids were drawn in Group B of the League Cup, alongside Canal, Modern Sport, National Bank and Smouha, with the top two teams from the four groups reaching the quarter-finals.

Overall, Mokwena has now collected eight wins in eight games in charge of the Egyptian giants, as his 100% start record continues.
