Former Kaizer Chiefs player Aden McCarthy has featured in a historic first-ever UEFA Champions league win of Sabah FK.
McCarthy has cemented a starting spot in the line-up of the Azerbaijan champions and featured in his second UCL game.
After their 4-0 opening day defeat to Manchester United, Sabah redeemed themselves at home, beating Slavia 2-0.
McCarthy played the full 90 minutes, helping his side to secure a clean sheet and a historic first ever UCL victory.
Sabah had to go through four qualifying rounds to reach the group stages of the competition, with McCarthy featuring just twice in the qualifiers.
However, since the start of the campaign the 22-year-old has secured his spot in the starting XI of Valdas Dambrauskas and he hasn’t looked back.
Overall, he has featured in 10 games during which his side have kept seven clean sheets.
Meanwhile, Sabah will celebrate this win as major milestone as they picked up their first-ever win in Europe’s elite club competition.
