SA tactician Rulani Mokwena continued his perfect start to life at Pyramids FC as they claimed a 10th straight win across all competitions.
The Egyptians defeated Sudanese side Al Merreikh FC 1-0 in the first leg of the CAF Champions League second preliminary round on Friday afternoon away from home.
Mahmoud Saber netted the only goal of the match in the 32nd minute to give his side the narrow advantage ahead of the second leg next week.
This was another intent from the 2024/25 CAF Champions League winners who are looking to be counted as serious contenders for Africa’s premium club competition this season.
On the domestic front, Pyramids also lead the standings with six wins out of six having racked up 18 points, two ahead of second-placed Al Ahly.
Their next league assignment will see them on the road again to take on El-Gaish who are currently lingering in 14th place on Tuesday, 20 October.
