Milford FC chairman and head coach Xanti Pupuma has set his sights on a strong finish to the club’s maiden Betway Premiership campaign after an encouraging start to the season.

The Stallions have made an impressive start to life in the topflight, collecting five wins, three draws and two defeats from their opening nine matches.

Their performances have earned them fourth place on the standings with 18 points, putting them firmly in contention for a respectable finish.

While Pupuma is not making any bold predictions about winning the league title, he believes his side has what it takes to end the season on a high note.

Pupuma maintains that Milford’s progress has not surprised him even though their early success has come as a shock to many who may have underestimated the newly promoted side.

“I mean obviously, in nine games, we wanted 27 points, but we will take the 15 [before the Sekhukhune win],” said Pupuma.

“We always challenge ourselves and as a brand, we will try push ourselves to the limit.

“So, it will sound like I’m arrogant or full of myself when I say I’m not surprised by how they have played. I really think they are doing what they are capable of.0

“And I believe the team will continue to accumulate points. I’m not saying we’re going to win the league but we’re going to end in a respectable position.

“And that’s gonna happen for some time because these guys can actually play and have been together for a long time, so we know each other.”
