Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz did not give a clear answer on the return dates of some of his injured players and who will be sidelined for their CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round, second leg clash against Red Arrows.

For at least their last two matches, including the first leg of the encounter against the Zambian aside, Amakhosi had to do without Lebohang Maboe, Adolf Mtasingwa, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Langelihle Phili and Brandon Petersen, owing to different knocks.

Chefs are trailing the two legged affair 1-0 and have to overturn the result in the return match in Durban on Friday to qualify for the tournament’s group stage for a second season in a row and also break their six-match winless streak.

Da Cruz told a media press conference on Thursday that the injured players are on the mend and will come back but didn’t want to give any further details about which players might be available against Arrows.

“It’s a good thing to speak about the injured players because since the beginning of the season we decreased the number of muscular injuries,” said Da Cruz.

“If we compare with other seasons we had only three muscular injuries during this season. The other injuries are contact injuries – very unlucky, if you see for example [Paseka] Mako in pre-season when he broke his arm.

“So we are on a good way for injured players, the players that will come back, not now but step by step, they are going to come back from injuries.”
