Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has qualified for the CAF Champions League group stages after collecting his 12th successive win with Pyramids.
Mokwena and his troops beat South Sudan side El Merriekh 4-0 on Saturday to complete a 5-0 aggregate win.
Abdelrahman Magdi opened the scoring after 23 minutes and winger completed his brace just five minutes later to hand Mokwena’s side a comfortable lead.
Mostafa Fathi scored his side’s third in first-half injury-time to hand the hosts a three-goal cushion at the break.
But Pyramids didn’t take the foot of the pedal, adding onto the scoreline in the 71st via Nadhir Benbouali.
The win saw Pyramids cruise into the CAFCL group stages, beating Merriekh 5-0 on aggregate.
It was Mokwena’s 12th win since taking charge of the 2023/24 CAF Champions League winners, as he is yet to drop any points in charge.
Pyramids return to league action in five days when they will face Wadi Degla, having currently a four-point cushion to second-placed Al Ahly who they will face on 23 November.
