Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana is off the mark in Syria after scoring for Al-Karamah SC in their 2-1 win over Qamishli SC in the Syrian Premier League.

The 28-year-old towering Burundi striker joined Karamah on a free transfer after being without a club since leaving Saudi First Division League outfit Jeddah SC in July 2026.

Al-Karamah moved top of the league standings with seven points after three matches with two wins and a draw.

At Deir ez-Zor Municipal Stadium on Saturday, the ‘Black Panther’ opened the scoring for the visitors in the 23rd minute for the slender halftime lead.

Qamishli levelled matters in the 65th minute through Mohammed Issa Hamo but Mohammad Al Marmour emerged as the match-winner with his strike in the 86th minute.

Since leaving Mzansi shores from Chiefs in 2023, Bimenyimana has plied his trade in Latvia, Slovakia, Rwanda, Burundi, Lithuania, Algeria, Saudi Arabia and now Syria.

He still holds the PSL record for scoring a hat-trick of penalties when Amakhosi saw off Stellenbosch FC 3-1 back in 2022.
