Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has heaped huge praise on Tshepang Moremi after his brace in their 3-0 win over Milford FC in the last 16 round of the Carling Knockout Cup in Orlando on Tuesday.
Moremi, 26, scored twice and provided an assist in the encounter to help the defending champions stay on course to defend their league cup title. Moremi’s brace also brought his goal tally to seven in all competitions this campaign.
As much as Ouaddou is happy for his player, he revealed that he was frustrated to see him not feature in the 2027 AFCON qualifiers against Guinea and Eritrea last month, even though Moremi played in the international friendly against Egypt.
Ouaddou feels that Moremi is instrumental and can help the national team and Pirates in big games.
“Well done for him,” said Ouaddou.
“What I like with Moremi, is we cannot reproach him in every game, the fighting spirit, running, doing everything, and I’m happy for him. I’m happy that he’s scoring, and I hope quickly that he is coming back to the national team because he’s a major player for South Africa.
“He’s a major player that can help the national team. So, I was a bit frustrated last time when he went to the national team, and he didn’t even have any game time.
“And I’m happy because he’s going to keep working hard and to keep on, I hope to represent his nation, and first of all, to keep scoring for Pirate because we need him for the big games and the next one is very important.”
