AmaZulu FC defender Tapelo Xoki says they will forget about the previous wins and just focus on facing Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium later today.
After winning two games consecutively, Xoki says it will give them a hope to end 2021 on a high despite playing a difficult side.
Usuthu visit the fourth placed Buccaneers in Soweto on Thursday, while they sit 5th, with both teams on 27 points, being separated by the goal difference.
A win for either side would take them to second.
“It was a huge win for us, matters a lot, it took a lot of great determination and hard work and a lot of team effort,” he said ahead of the match.
“But it’s over now, there’s a game on Thursday, and it’s a huge one again, we have to rec over, freshen up and make sure that we are ready for the game on Thursday, it’s going to be a tough one.
“It’s a direct competition for us in terms of position wise because we both on 27 points, they have a game in hand on us. So to win the game on will give us a cushion a bit.
“So we have to make sure that we are at our best and at our very clinical best because it’s a team that we know it’s not going to make it easy for, and they are playing at home.
“It’s a giant team they have won their last game, so they will want to close on their high, so we have to make sure that we play our best and try certainly to get maximum points, so we can enjoy the break nicely.”
The 26-year-old insists the team has a quality squad to challenge the likes of Pirates, and he is confident they will come out with a positive result.
“With this team anything is possible we have had so manifest, and we’ve broken some records for the team, so we can never rule anything out,” added the confident Xoki.
“We were not aware that the team has gone for so many years without beating Sundowns, but it feels good that we are broken that.
“We are going to Orlando it’s not an easy place to go to. And with that in mind of not winning there for some time can be an extra motivation but for us, the extra motivation is three points on the day which we need the most.
“We have played so many games and teams got games in hand on us, so we need to make sure that we got points in our bag before we close, so we go there with the hope of getting three points.
“The record of breaking the losing streak in Orlando, the drawing streak, then will come after, but we know it’s not going to be an easy place to go to, so we have to be at our clinical best to get three points there.”
