Cape Town City and Bafana Bafana left-back Terrence Mashego says he is pleased to be part of the DStv Compact Cup and thanked the fans who voted for him to be part of the tournament.

Mashego was voted and named into the Coastal United FC side starting XI alongside City teammates, Mpho Makola, Thabo Nodada, and Taariq Fielies.
The 23-year-old, who has been consistent since he joined the Citizens, and earned a Bafana call-up for the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers games last year, says he will give all to see his side crowned the champions.
“I am excited, I think personally, this is something different. This is something we’ve never seen before, anywhere in the world,” Mashego told club’s media department.
“I am looking forward to this amazing competition, I think we have a very good squad. I am looking forward to play with any player who is selected on the day because I trust that we have a very good squad.
“As a defender, the only thing that you can expect from me is to make sure that we keep a clean sheet and also to help the team going forward, and try to provide an assist or get a goal.
“I Just want to say thanks for trusting me, and I promise to deliver.”
Mashego and Coastal United are up against Dinaledi, with the game set to take place at 3pm on Saturday, 22 January at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
