News coming out of Egypt is that Percy Tau will be available for Al Ahly’s CAF Champions League game this weekend after withdrawing from Bafana Bafana due to injury.
Tau missed South Africa’s two recent friendlies – a 0-0 with against Guinea and a 5-0 hammering by France, with Hugo Broos confirming he had to withdraw from the squad due to injury.
The Belgian tactician actually expressed his frustration with Tau’s continued injury-struggles and suggested the Al Ahly winger might need a longer break to fully recover.
However, Tau was already pictured back in team training with his club earlier in the week and a report by Youm7 states that he will be available for Al Ahly’s crunch match against against Al Hilal Omdurman on Sunday.
Pitso Mosimane’s men need a draw to secure their ticket for the knockout stages of the competition, while a home defeat would see Al Hilal overtake the reigning champions in second spot in Group A – based on the better head-to-head record.
Mamelodi Sundowns, meanwhile, have already secured the top spot in Group A, sitting on 13 points after back-to-back wins over Mosimane’s men and a 4-2 over Al Hilal on match day five.
