Mothwa – We Can Beat Royal AM In KZN Derby

AmaZulu goalkeeper Veli Mothwa believes Usuthu can beat second-placed Royal AM in the KZN derby after collecting back-to-back wins under Brandon Truter.

Usuthu are set to face Royal AM in another KZN derby just a week after claiming bragging rights over Maritzburg United. In fact, Usuthu haven’t lost against any KZN side this season.

Mothwa admitted the encounter against ‘Thwihli Thwahla’ will be a difficult one, at the same time an enjoyable clash.

“It’s gonna be a very big game, it’s another KZN derby and we just came back from the KZN derby against Maritzburg United. So now it’s gonna be Royal AM vs AmaZulu, it’s gonna be a big game, it’s gonna be quite a nice one but a tough one. We will see who are the giants of KZN after this game,” Mothwa said ahead of the game.

“We are hoping to get maximum points and we are well prepared for this. The first two games we played it’s a motivation for us because of we’ve been paying in the DStv Premiership without a win, so this two games that we played and we won I think it’s giving us that push of saying we can beat Royal AM on Sunday.”

The Bafana Bafana goalkeeper who has kept 10 clean-sheets in this campaign and made 22 league appearances wants to keep his clean-sheet record going even though he thinks this game will be a game of goals,” he added.

“The commitment is there and everyone is willing to work hard for the team and it’s not like they didn’t want to work for the team at first. Every time when we play for AmaZulu, we willing to work hard for the team.

“Yes we scored by an own-goal the way it was difficult, we managed to absorb the pressure that Maritzburg was giving us, so coming to this game, it can be the same thing but I think this game it’s a game of goals we need to score more and they need to score less or they don’t have to score.

“So it’s gonna be a good game. For me as a goalkeeper I need to keep my clean-sheet record going. It’s gonna be a tough one and it’s gonna be enjoyable game.”

AmaZulu will face Royal AM at the Chatsworth Stadium on Sunday afternoon at 15:00.
