Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler says a draw was probably a fair reflection of the game, after City and Kaizer Chiefs cancelled each other out.
City and Chiefs ended 0-0 at the Cape Town Stadium in their DStv Premiership clash on Tuesday night.
Tinkler says both teams defended well before pointing out he doesn’t feel they were at their offensive best, and it was difficult to penetrate.
“Ja, I thought today’s game was a very, very tough game,” Tinkler told the club’s media department.

“Both teams obviously coming off a loss in the Nedbank Cup, and both teams obviously wanting to restart the league on a positive.
“And I think both teams very, very well structured defensively, looking to not give anything away, both us and them.
“I don’t think offensively we were at our best. Our first touch today let us down. Our transitional play wasn’t quick enough. And because of that, it obviously allowed Chiefs get back, organise themselves, and because they play with the back-five, they then become quite difficult to penetrate and break down.
“But we created situations, I thought we created certain better situations than them, first half, and then also in the second.
“But I think a true reflection on the game is a draw. I think it’s a fair result. I was quite happy with the performance from everyone I thought the intensity today, the work ethic today, was a lot better than what I saw against Royal AM.
“So there’s certain positives that we can take obviously from the performance but ja, we would have loved to have collected three points.
“But ja, we take one and now we move on and start prepping for the game against Golden Arrows. I think trying to get that momentum again is going to be the key factor for us. And you know, with these games, we can only get better and stronger.”
