AmaZulu defender Tercious Malepe says they must now switch focus back to the DStv Premiership, as they prepare to take on TS Galaxy on Tuesday.
AmaZulu beat Horoya 1-0 in the CAF Champions League on Friday, while TS Galaxy go into the game on the back of a league win against Swallows.
“Ja, of course, when playing teams that are on the bottom of the league, you have to be very, very cautious because those guys they’re fighting for their lives, you know,” Malepe told the club’s media department.
“So we won’t say ‘no, it’s a small team or it’s gonna be an easy game for us’.
“It’s gonna even be a difficult one because those guys they’re gonna run, they gonna do everything in their power to make sure that they get the points because they’re in need, to be honest.
“With us, we also need the points because we’ve been drawing so many games and now winning the CAF game is giving us a momentum to go for another one you know, so it’s always good when you’re winning games, so it’s gonna be a difficult game, of which we are ready for.”
It’s a short turnaround for both teams, with AmaZulu playing on Friday, while Galaxy played on Saturday, and Malepe says most of the focus is on recovery.
“We have to shift our focus from CAF,” he said.
“We came from the victory, it was very good result for us and now we have to build up the momentum of getting victories and once again, we’re home again.
“Now we’re gonna have a huge game against TS Galaxy and we are working so hard to make sure that we recover quickly.
“Games coming so soon, back to back but it is what it is, we’re recovering, and we keep on analyzing the opponents and ja, so one of another games, we have to go there for for the victory.”
