Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Junior Khanye has criticised three Orlando Pirates players after their defeat to Al-Ittihad defeat in the CAF Confederations Cup.
The Buccaneers suffered their first loss in the CAFCC group stages following a 3-2 defeat toAl-Ittihad at Martyrs of February Stadium on Sunday.
However, Pirates remain at the summit of Group B ahead of Al Ittihad, JS Saoura and Royal Leopards.
Khanye, though, has blamed some players, starting with goalkeeper Mpontshane..
“I’m disappointed in Mpontshane today, he could have done better in the last goal,” Khanye said on iDiskiTV.
“His positioning was wrong, he could have saved it if he didn’t move from the post, he moved too much forward.
“Yes, I understand it was a good and well taken ball from Al-Ittihad, but where was he going? I’m disappointed in him.”
Khanye once again questioned the coaching methods of Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids, before stating that Thembinkosi Lorch and Fortune Makaringe also disappointed him.
“I don’t understand Pirates’ coaches strategy, the team was poor and players lost the positions, it is very disappointing for a big team like them to play without strategy.
“You will not win a match without midfield. Lorch today was dropping, he was playing more of a right-back or sometimes in the centre. I’m disappointed with him and Makaringe today.”
