Zwane Relishing Chance In Chiefs First Team

Kaizer Chiefs academy product Samkelo Zwane has expressed his delight after his recent first-team breakthrough under head coach Arthur Zwane.

The son of former Orlando Pirates star Eugene Zwane has long been tipped for a big future within the ranks of Amakhosi and showed some glimpses of his talent in the DStv Diski Challenge over the past seasons.

After the departure of Njabulo Blom to St Louis City, Zwane, who turned 21 this week was afforded his full debut against Golden Arrows, producing a tidy display in the 2-0 win on New Year’s eve at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

“We try to keep a similar playing style in the youth development so that it will be easier to integrate – the only difference is the tempo. The playing speed is much quicker,” he told the club’s website of the experience.

“So far so good… I think all my teammates are giving me the support that I need, and proper guidance. They are letting me know that I can just express myself.

Having also featured in the Soweto Derby during the Carling Cup before the mid-season break he admitted it was an experience of a lifetime.

“I was really grateful for the opportunity. It is one that I’ll never forget. Never ever,” he added before opening up on their 53rd birthday celebrations.

“We should just do what we have prepared at training and put on a good show for the supporters to give them a good present.”

Zwane is expected to play center stage this evening when they return to FNB Stadium for the first time in 2023 for their DStv Premiership clash against Sekhukhune United.
