AmaZulu coach Romain Folz says it doesn’t give him satisfaction to see where Marumo Gallants are lying on the log after he was sacked after just five matches in charge.
Folz didn’t answer directly whether he feels Gallants didn’t give him enough time ahead of hosting his former club at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday (20:00).
Gallants are at the foot of the DStv Premiership with a 14 points after 17 matches, while Usuthu lie sixth on the table with 21 points after 16 matches.
“No,” said Folz when he was asked whether he feels vindicated to where he is now and where Gallants are at.
Unlike Gallants, who lost 2-0 to Usuthu’s provincial rivals – Richards Bay, Usuthu host Gallants after hammering Kaizer Chiefs 4-0 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium last Saturday.
Folz was then asked whether he doesn’t care about what is happening at his former club, but also shrugged off that question.
“It’s not that I don’t care, I’m not working for them. You have that question and ask them directly.”
Folz, who was replaced by Dan Malesela at Gallants, joined Usuthu in October last year following the departure of Brandon Truter.
AmaZulu have lost three matches at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, their home venue this season, but Folz said defeats didn’t come under him.
Instead, all those three losses came when Truter was the coach, including the decisive one against Richards Bay in October which proved to be his last game as Usuthu manager.
“I wasn’t here in any of them,” said Folz about building consistency at home and having lost three this season.
“But, yes [we’ve lost too many at home].”
Folz will not be the only one who will face his former club, as Junior Dion will face his former side for the first time after leaving Gallants in the January transfer window.
Dion, who at the moment can’t communicate well in English but only in French with Folz, will have a tail wagging after scoring his first goal for Usuthu in that 4-0 mauling of Chiefs.
Gallants midfielder Celimpilo Ngema will be playing against his future club as he has signed a pre-contract with Usuthu as previously revealed by iDiski Times.
