Ahead of their DStv Premiership fixture against Sekhukhune United, Keegan Ritchie says their win over Mamelodi Sundowns has given Maritzburg United confidence.
Twelfth-placed Maritzburg face Sekhukhune, who are ninth, at Ellis Park on Wednesday evening.
Ritchie says the win over Sundowns in their last league game has relieved some of the pressure, but also given them confidence to target victories in their next few games.
“I think they’re going well, we’re confident coming off of a victory against Sundowns, which was a big one for us,” Ritchie told the club’s media department.
“I mean we’re still there, we’re still under pressure, but I think it relieved a bit of the pressure for us, so I think we’re confident, the guys have been preparing well, the mood is good in camp, and ja, we’re just ready to go and get the three points.
“I think for now, we can’t be too pretty we’ve got to win ugly games sometimes, if the football is not going well, we’ve got to just put the work in and we’ve got to fight and fight as hard as we can until the last minute, and hopefully, we come out victorious.
“Also take the chances, we do create a lot of chances in the games, now we just got to convert. It’s very important to know like I said, there’s a little bit less pressure on us, but we still there.
“So, we win tomorrow, we beat Swallows, and then I think we go to (Cape Town City). If we can get nine points out of these games. I mean, it puts us in a good position, then we can kind of breathe easier, and hopefully play the brand of football that the Maritzburg fans like to see.
“But for now, it’s just about grinding out the results and getting maximum points. And if you don’t go away with three, at least getting the one point you know what I’m saying?”
