Mokwena Confirms Mbule Ruled Out Of Nedbank Cup Clash

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena will not have midfielder Sipho Mbule to call upon when they face Marumo Gallants in the Nedbank Cup last-16 clash tomorrow.

Sundowns face off against Gallants in a repeat of the 2021/22 final, in what will be the club’s first fixture at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein.

And they will be without the gifted Mbule, who was seemingly on a steady rise to top form after several dynamic cameos before a Man of the Match display in the last-32 when the beat Richards Bay at Loftus Vervseld last month.

But he’s since not featured or listed in the matchday squad in the 3-1 win over Coton Sport in Cameroon or the 2-2 draw against Al Ahly in Cairo last weekend.

“Yeah, unfortunately, Sipho is suspended for the next match,” Mokwena said when asked about his notable absence over the last two matches in the CAF Champions League.

“So he’s not in contention. But we’ll stick to one game at a time and see how we can go with Sipho leading up to Stellenbosch.”

The 24-year-old has featured 18 times for Masandawana this season, scoring once and assisting once as he looked towards getting back to full fitness again.
