Ntseki Names 5 Chiefs Players Who’ll Miss Downs Clash

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki has confirmed that five players, including vice-captain Keagan Dolly, will miss the clash with Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday.

It is arguably the biggest game of the new 2023/24 season, when Chiefs will meet the reigning DStv Premiership champions at a sold-out Lucas Moripe Stadium at 15:00 today.

Amakhosi enter the game on the back of a goalless draw with Chippa United in their season opener, while Masandawana started with 2-1 win over Sekhukhune United.

Ntseki has insisted “both teams will be competing to win the game” but also revealed that his side are still battling some injuries, with a few players not ready despite returning to training.

“We started the pre-season without our attackers, most of whom were injured, but they’ve since come back to train with the team,” he told the club’s media department.

“If you look at our medical list, we still have Keagan Dolly and Edmilson Dove out of the team.

“George Matlou, Dillon Solomons and Kamohelo Mahlatsi are coming back from some niggling injuries and only started training with the team this week, so they are not available for selection.

“But the guys who have been training very hard and preparing well will be ready to carry the hopes and belief of the Khosi Nation.”

Ntseki, though, insisted his side want to put a smile on the faces of their supporters on Wednesday afternoon.

“We are playing this game on the back of having drawn against Chippa. We still have to put some smiles on our faces and on the faces of our supporters,” he explained.

“It will be a very difficult game playing against the current Premier Soccer League champions, but as Kaizer Chiefs we are ready.”
