Would He Coach Chiefs? Mosimane Responds

Pitso Mosimane has commented about whether or not he’d be interested in coaching Kaizer Chiefs, the team he supported as a boy, in the future.

Mosimane was T-Bose‘s guest on Kaya FM this week, and one of the questions from the public was would the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly coach consider working at Naturena.

Mosimane was coy, but admitted that he grew up as Kaizer Chiefs fan, but like with any position, he would need to see if he was aligned with the club’s vision.

“I go anywhere, I’m a professional, as long as you show me the vision, and we are aligned.

“Any team, any team, I will go work for it. Because I want to have the energy. I don’t want to wake up and then I’m doing it for the sake of doing it.

“I need to say why do I want to do this?

“So you asked me about Kaizer Chiefs. What an institution. I mean, I supported the team when I was young. In fact, Doctor Khumalo’s father, Eliakim ‘Pro’ Khumalo, may his soul rest in peace, he used to take me to the matches of Kaizer Chiefs.

“Because my uncle used to play for Kaizer Chiefs. Doctor Khumalo’s father was putting me in his combi, I remember powder blue combi and Doc maybe was still young, he doesn’t remember maybe. He used to put me there.

” And that’s how life is. Now today when I look at Doctor Khumalo I get humbled as well.

“I used to watch Kaizer Chiefs train in Phefeni in front of Kaizer Motaung’s house. I watched it with my own eyes. Training, not on the turf. Dust! I saw them there.

“So what an institution! What a team! And by the way, I love Orlando Pirates because I’ve played for it also. So I’m just conflicted, guy.

“And I coached Mamelodi Sundowns. You know what I’m trying to say? But it’s reality, it’s my life.”
