Lesotho FA Slam Broos

The Lesotho Football Association have slammed Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos for “lambasting and belittling” Lesotho following his latest comments at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Broos had stated that his team needs to face high-profile opposition like Tunisia and Mali instead of teams like Lesotho in order to progress as a team.

“We need these type of tournament to become better. We will not be better – and excuse me, it’s not a lack of respect – but we can’t progress if we face teams like Lesotho,” he said after his side qualified for the Last 16.

Despite Broos highlighting that he didn’t mean it as lack of respect for Lesotho, who drew 0-0 with Bafana in their only warm-up friendly ahead of AFCON, the Lesotho FA were clearly riled up by Broos’ comments.

Lesotho FA Secretary General Mr. Mokhosi Mohapi wrote a letter of complaint about Bross to SAFA CEO Lydia Monyepao, accusing him of “colonial tendencies”.
