Mofokeng Reaches Special Pirates Milestone

Orlando Pirates starlet Relebohile Mofokeng has scripted his own chapter of history for the club after making his 50th appearance in the MTN8 final this past weekend.

The Buccaneers staged a thrilling 3-1 comeback victory over Stellenbosch FC, becoming the first club in the Premier Soccer League era to win the MTN8 trophy in three consecutive years.

Mofokeng, 19, has been a mainstay for the Bucs senior team since being promoted in July 2023, scoring both winning goals in last season’s Nedbank Cup final and this past weekend’s MTN8 final, to improve his personal trophy cabinet to two Wafa Wafa and two Ke Yona Cup gold medals.

“President of ama2000” was last season voted as the DStv Premiership Young Player of the Season and the Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player of the Tournament, which also saw him earn a deserved call-up to Hugo Broos’ Bafana Bafana squad where he has so far earned three caps.

In his 50 appearances for the three-peat champions, Mofokeng has amassed 19 goal contributions (9 goals and 10 assists).

He turns 20 on 23 October.
