Chiefs In Two-Goal Comeback Vs Giant Slayers

Kaizer Chiefs came back from two goals down to salvage a 2-2 draw in the Betway Premiership against rookies Magesi FC at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday night.

Wonderboy Makhubu scored early in the first half, with Edmore Chirambadare netting a beauty from a set-piece to salvage a point for the Limpopo side and see them in 11th position with six points from six matches.

The Magesi lead was cancelled by Mdu Shabalala’s second half brace which saw Chiefs in eighth place with seven points in five encounters.

This was, however, a better showing for Chiefs who dropped all points in their last encounter at the same venue over the weekend.

After Dikwena tṧa meetse goal, Amakhosi tried to get the equaliser but could only come close with six attempts in the opening half. Shabalala could have levelled in the first half but Elvis Chipezeze blocked his shot.

Mfundo Vilakazi also had a chance in the half but couldn’t finish. Ranga Chivaviro also had a chance but could not do much with it. In the second half Chiefs continued to be frustrated as they went at their hosts with Chipezeze the biggest stumbling block.

Gaston Sirino could have also equalised in the 69th minute but wasted the opportunity. A few minutes later Clinton Larsen’s charges won a set-piece and Chirambadare stepped up and slotted it home to extend Magesi’s lead.

That was short lived as Shabalala completed a brace scoring two quick goals in the 76th and 78th minutes to save Chiefs blushes, one being assisted by Sirino while the other was a benefit of a bad clearance by Magesi.
