After Hugo Broos announced his final 23-man Bafana Bafana squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, here are the 15 players who were dropped from the preliminary selection.
Broos surprised many by selecting Sage Stephens, who is uncapped and didn’t make previous squads, but he explained that Ricardo Goss was injured and Stephens deserves his call-up after showing great form.

Another notable absentee is Percy Tau, who had missed out on the previous camps but was included in the provisional squad.
In addition, Tshegofatso Mabasa and Thabiso Sesane were the two Orlando Pirates players who were dropped.
Sipho Mbule, who had been recalled to Bafana for the first time since 2021, also didn’t make the final selection.
