Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro praised his players after a hard-fought draw against defending CAF Champions League winners Al Ahly SC.
Pirates shared the spoils with Al Ahly on a hot afternoon in Soweto, in what was a tough tactical battle between Jose Riveiro and Marcel Koller.
In the first half Pirates had few half chances but failed to convert them, while the Red Devils remained winless on South African soil.
Riveiro was happy with his side’s performance, stating that this is a positive result and they will take a point and move forward.
“Excellent performance of Orlando Pirates from the beginning to the end against super good opponents,” Riveiro told SABC Sport.

“They have a lot of experience, they know how to minimise the way to suffer. Any opponent with our performance would struggle [against us] and they managed to keep it tight.
“I think that’s the only part we missed today to creating a little bit more in the last third, knowing that with these types of teams, you gonna have one opportunity to capitalise.
“But I’m so proud of the whole squad, everybody even the ones who couldn’t make into the 20, they helped us a lot this week to prepare for this game.
“One more point we keep going.”
