Official: Former Downs Midfielder Lands New Club

Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Erwin Saavedra has completed a return to his former team Club Bolivar.

Saavedra, 28, joined Sundowns from the Bolivian giants in February 2022, however failed to live up to expectations at Chloorkop.

He had already returned to Bolivar on loan in February 2024 before he was recalled ahead of the current campaogn.

But with the return of Matias Esquivel and the signing of Lucas Suarez on loan, there was no space for the midfielder, and Sundowns opted to part ways in January.

Saavedra has now returned to Club Bolivar, as previously indicated by this publication.

“A great captain returns home. Erwin Saavedra Flores, an emblematic player in the history of Club Bolívar, will once again wear the jersey of Bolivia’s most successful team, the club stated.

“His 315 games in Bolívar make him one of the players who contributed most to the club’s success. His return represents the return of a great player and a great Bolivarian.

“Saavedra is back, with the unconditional support of the president of Club Bolívar, Marcelo Claure. His experience and leadership will be fundamental in this historic year of our Centennial.”
