Hunt Makes Sir Alex Ferguson Claim

SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt doesn’t want to be limited by age saying he is drawing inspiration from Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos and former Manchester United mentor Sir Alex Ferguson.

Broos is in his 70s and has come and rebuilt the national senior team guiding them to a third-place finish at last year’s AFCON, helping them qualify for the upcoming 2025 edition in Morocco while still in the running to qualify for next year’s FIFA world Cup.

Meanwhile, Ferguson was also in his 70’s when he retired from coaching having won everything on offer with the Red Devils.

Hunt told iDiski Times senior writer Matshelane Mamabolo in edition 191 of the newspaper that of course he’d like some security however he is taking it one game at a time.

“I look at Broos at 70 and Alex Ferguson at about 75 and … for me, it is about the next game – keep going until the next game,” Hunt told iDiski Times.

“I don’t look too far ahead. Obviously, everybody wants a bit of security. You want someone to tell you things are going well; it doesn’t matter if they are going badly. You want to be told ‘keep going, you are doing the right things.

“Of course, you want something like that, but you also know the nature of this business. I don’t worry too much. I know that if I can win next week maybe I might have the job for another week.”
