Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City have confirmed their respective starting lineups for this afternoon’s highly anticipated Betway Premiership encounter at Orlando Stadium.
It’s been one month and three weeks since Cape Town City dented Pirates’ title hopes in the Mother City with a shock 1-0 following Darwin Gonzalez’s solitary goal.
The Buccaneers will look to get revenge and keep their title hopes alive this afternoon as they come into tie after suffering a 4-1 defeat against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Pirates saw their match against Golden Arrows in midweek postponed due to a waterlogged pitch which made it even more difficult for them with Sundowns winning against Marumo Gallants to open up a 12-point at the summit.
Meanwhile, City have won just once since beating Pirates in Cape Town which was against Richards Bay. Things haven’t gone well for Muhsin Ertugral following three defeats and one draw in the last four matches including a Nedbank Cup exit against Sekhukhune United.
These two sides have faced each other 17 times in the league, with Pirates winning five games and Cape Town City winning four, while eight matches ended with draws.
