Khanye Predicts Pirates & Chiefs NBC Games

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye believes Orlando Pirates will be too strong for SuperSport United in the Nedbank Cup quarter-final today, while also predicting that Stellenbosch FC will knockout out Amakhosi.

Both Soweto giants play on Saturday, while Mamelodi Sundowns’ clash with Sekhukhune United was postponed due to a double-booking at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

The Saturday kicks off, with the Buccaneers facing Gavin Hunt’s SuperSport, with Khanye believing the Buccaneers will be too strong for Matsatsantsa, even though they haven’t been at their best of late.

“Wery, very tough matches, when you see the fixtures, not easy fixtures,” he told this website.

“Between Pirates and SuperSport, I see Pirates winning the game because of the experience of the trophy.

“When they played for trophies in the past three years, the mindset changed. Pirates have very good season compared to SuperSport United, and they’ve got players that represent the country individually. I’m talking about Thalente, Mbatha, Mofokeng, Chaine…

“They have an advantage on this, pound to pound with players, and yes, Super Sport, they’ve signed couple of players, which is Ndlovu, a former Pirates player, Maboe, they’ve signed Samir Nurkovic, they’ve signed Saile as well, I heard Grobler is back…

“But Pirates, they had a good season compared to SuperSport, they’ve got players who can turn things around at any given time. They have a good season, but lately, last past two, three games, they’ve not been themselves.

“I think psychologically, it now plays a major role. They are not used to be that position, competing for the league. Psychologically, I think it hinders them.

“They are playing against the coach that you will want to frustrate Orlando Pirates. He will wanna play to a draw, taking their chance on penalties.

“But I think Pirates are going to win the game. I see Pirates winning 2-0.”

In the second fixture of the game, Khanye believes the Cape Winelands side will knock his former side out, despite playing home away from home at Nelson Mandela Stadium in Gqeberha.

“Kaizer Chiefs against Stellenbosch, everybody plays Kaizer Chiefs believe they can win, they’ve never dominated the game,” he added.

“They’re always looking as if they can concede at any given time. Especially playing against the attacking-minded team, though, lately, after losing players teleport, they’ve changed.

“They’ve lost Jayden Adams, one of the key best players for them, Van Rooyen as well. But they managed to find the couple young stars. I see this boy from DDC, the winger coming on the left [Phili].

“And this guy, Cupido is scoring goals. I see he’s very arrogant on the ball. He’s got a strong character. He works hard, he can run, good technique, he’s got power on his feet. He works hard when they don’t have the ball in defence.

“They’ve also got Titus, with very quick speed, obvious. But I’ve got a problem with his decision-making in the last state. And they’ve Nduli, they’ve got this boy Palace, they’ve got Jabar…

“I see Stellenbosch winning against Kaizer Chiefs. They’ve not been themselves, I’ve been watching the game on Tuesday, they were poor in that game. It was just the goal that separated the game.

“The coaches, he approaches games, his first priority is to defend. Is is not the type of coach that can you can put your head on the block and say he will win games three in a row or two in a row.

“You can’t approach game defensively, waiting for opponent to score against you, and then you want to react – a big team like Chiefs. Chiefs, they’re going to lose the game, 2-0.
