Orlando Pirates DStv Diski Challenge head coach Joseph Makhanya says he wants the players to enjoy themselves in Sunday’s Diski Soweto derby, but they mustn’t forget that it’s a derby.
This is Duku-Duku’s third season coaching Pirates and has played against Kaizer Chiefs five times and has won two, which were in his first season in the DDC league. Last season the Buccaneers managed only one point against Chiefs, and that played a huge role in their title aspirations.

Having lost already this season against Chiefs, Makhanya does not feel under pressure as he says that the game is all about learning for the young players and enjoying it even though they must keep in mind that this is a derby.
“I’ve played this fixture before, this is my third season in the DDC. The first season we won two of those fixtures with the likes of Relebohile Mofokeng. We won home and away,” Makhanya told iDiski Times.
“In the second season, we drew one and lost one. This season we’ve lost one so it tells you it’s a fixture that comes with a lot of demand, but as long as players go in take and embrace the experience they get on a derby.
“It’s a mini-derby where they got to learn when you play in front of the 90,000 supporters at FNB Stadium what does it feel like so it gives us kneepads. We would obviously want to make sure that at least we do well but also not taking away the fun part of it and the enjoyment of these players making sure they enjoy every moment.”
