Nabi – How Cele Injury Affected Us

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi believes that the injury to Thabo Cele played a part in their defeat to Golden Arrows.

Amakhosi succumbed to their 10th defeat in the Betway Premiership this season as they run the risk of once again losing out on the top eight ahead of the next campaign.

Cele was hauled off in the first period, which saw Chiefs go from dominating the game, to completely being outplayed by Abafana Bes’thende who came away with the maximum points.

The Tunisian mentor admitted that the injury to Cele made them lose their rhythm even though he made mention of all the other injuries they are currently nursing.

“The injury to Thabo Cele in the first half disrupted us a bit in terms of the link between defence and attack,” Nabi said, according to SABC Sport.

“The injuries and absences we have are costing us a lot.

“I prefer to comment on the general performance of the team and not an individual player,” Nabi further said in his post-match presser.

“I think we have been unlucky with the injuries we’ve had. Our right back [Reeve Frosler] and our left centre back [Rushwin Dortley], Thabo Cele and Tashreeq Morris, who are our latest additions, are out injured.

“We feel that it’s a lot to take, but we have to keep our energy positive.”
