With South Africa’s biggest football fixture on the local calendar, the Soweto Derby, on the horizon, there are several players from both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates who are sitting on three yellow cards ahead of the much-anticipated clash on Saturday, May 3.
The Buccaneers have already claimed bragging rights in the first round and will now be looking to complete a double over their bitter rivals and add further woes to their inconsistent form this season.
Jose Riveiro’s charges are also on course for a rare quadruple as they also look narrow the gap between them and Betway Premiership leaders Mamelodi Sundowns which currently stands at 12 points.
Amakhosi are currently on a four match winless streak in the league having last claimed a win over Magesi FC in early March which has seen them remain unmoved in eighth spot with six matches remaining.
Below, is a list all the players who are at risk of missing the Soweto Derby:
Chiefs:
- Wandile Duba
- Inacio Miguel
- Mduduzi Shabalala
- Pule Mmodi
- Tashreeq Morris
Pirates:
- Patrick Maswanganyi
- Relebohile Mofokeng
- Thapelo Xoki
- Thabiso Sesane
- Thalente Mbatha

Before the two Soweto giants clash at the majestic Calabash, Amakhosi have fixtures against Chippa United and Marumo Gallants while the Buccaneers play Gallants, SuperSport United and Magesi.
Technical benches from both ends will mostly in all likelihood be looking to rest some of their key players in order to have them ready and available for the big clash.
