Mamelodi Sundowns moved a step closer to the Bayhill Premier Cup knockout stages after a win, while Cape Town City and Cape Town Spurs advanced to the knockout stages.
Sundowns picked up their first win of this year’s Bayhill Premier Cup, as they comfortable beat Randburg FC 2-0 to move to four points after a 1-1 draw with Valhalala United in their opening game. Meanwhile AmaZulu suffered their first defeat, going down 1-0 in the KwaZulu-Natal derby against Shayamoya Academy.

Cape Town City scored a last-minute winner to beat British Football Academy 2-1, with Aviwe Ndevu scoring a brace as City moved to six points to qualify for the knockout stages.
Last year’s finalists, FN Rangers, beat the University of Pretoria 2-1 and AmaTuks have now gone two matches without a win and could be knocked out of the competition should they fail to get maximum points in their last game.
In the main game of the night, Cape Town Spurs beat Namibian visitors CBS Talents 3-0. The Urban Warriors made it two out of two and advanced to the tournament’s knockout stages.
Stellenbosch FC did not have a fixture on Friday, after Ghanaian club Medeama SC’s late withdrawal from the tournament. They will resume their journey against La Masia Elite FC early Saturday morning. Should they get maximum points, they will be through to the next round.
