Kaizer Jr Makes Bold Pirates Claim

Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. was in celebratory mood, claiming beating Orlando Pirates in cup finals “is not a tough challenge” for his club.

Amakhosi beat their Soweto rivals 2-1 in Saturday’s Nedbank Cup final to end their 10-year trophy drought.

It was Chiefs’ fourth win in a domestic cup final against the bitter rivals, which Motaung Jr was happy to highlight on Monday morning.

“If I’m not mistaken, out of five cup finals we played against Pirates we’ve won four,” he told Xoli Zondo on 5FM.

“I think beating Orlando Pirates in a final is not a tough challenge for us.”

Motaung Jr. also expressed his joy that former Pirates DDC captain Yusuf Maart, who has been experiencing some backlash from Chiefs fans, was the one who scored the winning goal.

“But I must say, going back to Yusuf Maart – for me it’s also very touching to see because he is a youth player from Orlando Pirates, he used to be their DDC captain,” he added.

“For him, like also for all other players, it’s been a very tough season. And he’s also been through a lot this year. To score the winning goal in that fashion, it was just an amazing moment, personally for him.

“I want to say big congratulations to him, a lot of character shown. And I’m just very, very happy for him.”
