‘Sundowns Won’t Make Same Mistake As Pirates’

Former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Michael Manzini reckons his former club’s CAF experience will aid them avoid Orlando Pirates’ mistakes in their 2nd leg against Pyramids FC on Sunday.

Sundowns failed to protect their first leg lead allowing the Egyptians to equalise with the last kick of the game which ended 1-1 goal which means they now have to win in Cairo or draw by more than a goal to win the tournament for the second time since 2016.

Manzini is confident of a turnaround against the free scoring Pyramids with the 52-year-old development coach also making a comparison between Masandawana and Pirates in his candid interview with iDiski Times senior writer Matshelane Mamabolo in edition 206 of the newspaper.

“I think the difference between us and Pirates is that there’s a lot of experience in our team,” Manzini told iDiski Times.

“We have a little more maturity in comparison, and I don’t think we will open ourselves to concede the way Pirates did. The experience will take us through; we will have the patience to wait for the right moments.

“Of course, there will not be too many opportunities created like in their match against Pirates, so it is going to be about recognising the moment when the opportunity is there, and we need to take advantage of those.

“I believe that once we score one, it will open up for more chances of goals. The trophy is coming home.”
