Mduduzi Shabalala and Wandile Duba were among nine players who were handed their official Bafana Bafana debuts in the COSAFA Cup on Wednesday.
Bafana’s B side suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat to Mozambique in their tournament opener, but head coach Vela Khumalo handed several players their full debuts.

With COSAFA being recognised as an official FIFA tournament, those players have now officially been capped for South Africa, Chiefs duo Shabalala and Duba, who both came off the bench, among those debutants.
In the starting XI, SuperSport United trio Thakasani Mbanjwa, Ime Okon and Gape Moralo, Orlando Pirates’ Kabelo Dlamini, Stellenbosch FC’s Sanele Barns and Sekhukhune United’s Vuyo Letlapa all made their debuts.
Last but not least, Richards Bay’s Fezile Gcaba also made his debut off the bench, albeit just coming on in the 87th minute.
