Mngomeni On Pirates’ Pitso Rumours

Former Orlando Pirates captain Thabo Mngomeni has expressed how happy he was when he read rumours of Pitso Mosimane being linked with his former club.

Mosimane is one seven coaches linked with the vacant post at Pirates following the departure of Jose Riveiro just before the season ended. The Spaniard won the hearts of Buccaneers in his impressive stint where he won five cups and managed to reach the semi-finals of the CAF Champions league with a young squad in two and a half years.

The Amajimbos assistant coach spoke to iDiski Times Editor Rob Delport in edition 207 of the newspaper where he said the three-time CAF Champions League winning coach is one of the people that can continue where Riveiro left off.

“I was happy when they were saying Pitso was coming,” Mngomeni told iDiski Times.

“I was really happy. I think he could do something or carry on what Riveiro started. Definitely, Pitso has got the capability of doing that, sure, definitely.”

Mngomeni also suggested that Mandla Ncikazi should stay part of the new technical team at the club, as he will continue the learnings from Riveiro.

“And what about Mandla [Ncikazi]? He has been there with Riveiro. Mandla has identified how Riveiro was doing his things,” he added.

“I’m not saying if they put him in, he should do it that way, but he can see where they have improved. He can see where they need to improve. He should also be there, part of the team.”
