After Banyana Banyana’s rousing 3-0 win over Mali, Desiree Ellis side will now face Senegal in the quarter-final.
Banyana showed a much-improved performance to their surprise 1-1 draw with Tanzania. The win secured Banyana top spot in Group C, while Mali dropped into third place behind Ghana after the Black Queens beat Tanzania 4-1 in the other fixture.
The defending champions will now face Senegal in the quarter-final after the Lionesses finished third in Group A behind Morocco and Zambia. Senegal started the tournament with a strong 4-0 win over DR Congo but then lost 3-2 to Zambia and 1-0 to Morocco.
Meanwhile Morocco will face Mali in the first quarter-final, while Algeria will meet Ghana, and Nigeria’s Super Falcons are set to meet Zambia in one of the most exciting clashes of the tournament.
If Banyana would get past Senegal, they would face the winner between Zambia and Nigeria in the semi-final.
