Thulani Hlatshwayo’s future remains uncertain after he stopped training with Durban City, as a reunion with his former coach Gavin Hunt now seems unlikely.
Last week, this publication reported that Hlatshwayo started training with newly promoted side, with hope of earning a contract under Hunt who knows him very well, having coached him at Bidvest Wits and SuperSport United.
But the latest information received by this publication is that Hlatshwayo stopped training with City, as he continues to look for greener pastures.
It remains to be seen if City will recall Hlatshwayo after this weekend’s KZN Premier Cup pre-season tournament, where Hunt’s side lost in the final to Richards Bay.
But they showed glimpses of what City supporters can expect this coming season, beating Milford 2-1 in the first round before eliminating AmaZulu in the semi-final after a 3-2 win.
Hlatshwayo, 35, was on the books of SuperSport last season, making 16 appearances across all competitions.
