Spurs On Verge Of Losing Another Star On A Free?

Cape Town Spurs could lose striker Mervin Boji on a free transfer to Chippa United after he has also taken his matter to the PSL DRC.

The Eastern Cape-based side showed interest in Boji, though there’s no green light on whether he is a free agent or not at this stage, with a verdict expected to be out next week.

Following the PSL DRC ruling that both Asanele Velebayi and Luke Baartman are free agents ahead of their moves to Kaizer Chiefs there has been a precedent, and the Chilli Boys also stand a good chance of securing promising striker, Boji.

The PSL DRC sittings are expected to take place on 25 August, with a verdict expected to be a week later. Boji has been training with the Urban Warriors since the beginning of their pre-season.

Spurs have also been looking to find their way back to professional football by getting a franchise but all that seems to be impossible now with the Motsepe Foundation Championship set to kick off this coming weekend.

The 24-year-old joined Spurs at the beginning of last season after he was involved in a swap deal that saw Ashley Cupido join Stellenbosch FC permanently. He scored one goal for Spurs but struggled due to injuries.

Boji has Premiership experience after helping Stellies to win the Carling Knockout Cup, having made 38 appearances in the Maroon and White, scoring three goals.
