The 2025/26 Motsepe Foundation Championship kicked off this weekend with drama as Black Leopards played with only 10 men in their defeat to Casric Stars.
Lidoda Duvha’s clash against Stars at Thohoyandou Stadium kicked off 45 minutes later than expected after a long discussion about Leopards, who had only 10 players available for the encounter.

Information received by this publication is that Leopards had only 10 players’ cards available after failing to register their players on time. They had to play the game with those 10 players who didn’t have a goalkeeper with former South Africa U20 defender Thendo Mukumela playing as a goalkeeper.Â
Stars took advantage of that as they hammered Leopards 3-0 with Decide Chauke scoring the opening just before halftime. Cameroonian striker Simon Moukete scored the second in the 81st minute and Tshepo Mohlala made it 3-0 in additional time.
The Limpopo-based side will have the University of Pretoria in eight days away from home with the hope that they will receive players’ playing cards during the week and compete against AmaTuks in a good way.
