Tinkler – I Prefer To Be The Hunter

Sekhukhune United head coach Eric Tinkler has admitted that he prefers to be the hunter as his side remain unbeaten in the Betway Premiership and in pole position after five rounds of action.

Babina Noko registered their fourth win this season, a 2-0 defeat of Durban City at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday to amass 13 points out of a possible 15 as the league takes a recess for the FIFA international break. They have also conceded just one goal in this period.

Tinkler says though it’s still early days, he prefers things to be this way and not to be chasing anyone while he wants his charges to continue picking up as many points as possible.

“I prefer to be the hunter,” said Tinkler.

“I think we still are the hunter. Still early days so right now, we worry about ourselves we try and collect as many points as we possibly can. We go into every game with a mind-set that we want to win that match, irrespective of who we play against, be they are a big club or a small club.

“What was important for us now was to come through this eight-game period with positive results and we did that. Would we have liked to have seen ourselves in the final of the MTN8? obviously.

“I think that’s the one thing that let us down, but I cannot fault the guys when it comes to the league performances.”
