Leopards Statement On Upington City Game Postponement

Motsepe Foundation Championship side Black Leopards have delved into why their league fixture against Upington City has been postponed by the PSL.

Lidoda Duvha started the season in a bad way where they made headlines after the opening game against Casric Stars with 10 players and were forced to use former South Africa Under-23 defender Thendo Mukumela as their goalkeeper. This comes after they failed to register players. Leopards lost, Stars took advantage and beat them 3-0.

Matters got worse in the second match against the University of Pretoria. Even though this time they had 11 players on the field and four players on the bench, Mukumela had to be in the goals still. AmaTuks played the match under protest as they complained that there were not enough under-23 players in the squad of Leopards on the day.

After the international break, Leopards were fixtured to face fourth-placed Upington City but the fixture was confirmed to have been postponed via Upington City’s social media platforms.

Leopards have released a statement thanking City for agreeing on the fixture postponement and explained that they are under a FIFA transfer ban, which was imposed on Cape Town All Stars for failing to access the FIFA Clearing house portal. Since they purchased the Cape Town All Stars status some three years ago, they are now facing the consequences.

Lidoda Duvha confirmed that they are working around the clock to resolve the issue before their encounter against newly acquired Leicesterford City FC on Sunday, 28 September 2025, at Dobsonville Stadium.
