Durban City coach Gavin Hunt has addressed the situation surrounding the club’s target, Collins Nwoburuoke, after the player was seen training with Orlando Pirates last week.
The centre-back arrived in South Africa during the pre-season and trained with The Citizens as they were preparing for the next season.
The club wanted to sign him and applied for a work permit, but encountered issues in the process. The player then went for a trial with the Buccaneers, who were also keen in assessing him.
However, according to the information received by iDiski Times, Pirates have decided against signing the player, leaving the door open for City, who are now interested in taking him back.
In response to a question about the defender’s potential return, Hunt stated that he was uncertain about what was happening with the former Abia Warriors player.
“Ah, I don’t know, he is at Pirates, isn’t he?,” asked Hunt when asked by iDiski Times.
“I think he is at Pirates but I’m not sure what’s happening with him.”
Meanwhile, Durban City recently welcomed left-back Terrence Mashego, who joined on a season-long loan from Mamelodi Sundowns.
They also signed Letsie Koapeng on a permanent two-year deal from newbies Orbit College
