Kaizer Chiefs have given an update on head coach Nasreddine Nabi who is not part of the squad ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup clash in Angola on Saturday.
The Tunisian mentor took charge of the club at the beginning of last season and ended Amakhosi’s 10-year trophy draught by lifting the Nedbank Cup.
However, in the league Chiefs ended up outside the top eight. There had been some question marks over Nabi’s future, but the club entered the new campaign with their head coach.
They started 2025/26 with four wins out of their first five games, keeping five clean sheets but that dream start was ended by Sekhukhune United, who beat them 3-1 on Tuesday.
On Friday, Chiefs announced via a statement that the coach does not form part of the team, who are currently in Angola for their CAF Confederation Cup encounter against Kabuscorp SCP, as they try and resolve matters with the coach.
“Kaizer Chiefs confirms that Head Coach Nasreddine Nabi is currently not with the team as discussions between the Club and the Coach remain ongoing. The matter is internal in nature and is being addressed through the appropriate processes.
“The Club remains focused on ensuring stability and continuity for the players and supporters during this period.
“As this is an internal matter, no further details will be shared at this stage.
“We appreciate the continued support and understanding of our supporters and the broader football community. Any updates will be communicated through official Club channels when appropriate,” the statement read.
