Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has given an update on Themba Zwane’s injury, confirming how long the player will be out of action.
In his first game back from a thigh injury, Zwane suffered another setback during Sundowns’ 3-0 victory over Magesi in the Betway Premiership on Sunday.
Having replaced Tashreeq Matthews in the 64th minute, he had to walk off the pitch moments before the final whistle, unable to complete the match.
Cardoso has confirmed that the player sustained a muscle injury, and after a recent assessment, it’s expected he’ll be out for more than a month.
“Themba Zwane has a muscle injury, grade two which will take him out of a team for a period of little bit more than a month, around the month,” said Cardoso after their 1-1 draw with Marumo Gallants on Wednesday evening.
“Let’s see, it depends on how he can react to the treatment that he is going to receive. But obviously, he will be a player that we will have to protect in terms of his return to train and play.
“So, let’s go easy so that we can prepare him for the future because he is still an important player for us.”
